VW Group is intending to release the most powerful SUV, defeating even the Lamborghini Urus.
Soon, the Porsche Cayenne collection will gain a Turbo S E-hybrid model, with the same hybridized twin-turbo V8 engine as Panamera.
Oliver Blume, the Porsche CEO is confirming in an interview that this model will top the entire VW Group’s SUV models, including the Cayenne range regarding the power. It will have an infusion of turbocharging and plug-in power. It’s expected to bring out at least 677 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of torque.
It was expected that a version of the current Cayenne Turbo to appear at some point. We also have a confirmation that the hybrid V8 arrangement can go with the MLB-Evo platform used by Cayenne. That means the model will not have a restriction to the MSB platform developed with Bentley and utilized by the Panamera.
Moreover, this news aligns with the confirmation from Audi, that its RS7, a model that uses MLB platform to the Porsche SUV, will have a version with the same powertrain. Also, the new Cayenne Coupe will have an available Turbo S E-hybrid form too.
The new Cayenne model will get the better of the Lamborghini Urus, even if the second develops 641bhp with a twin-turbocharged V8 and no hybrid widgets.
However, it’s unlikely that Porsche will win against the 697bhp Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk with the position of the world’s most powerful SUV.
Finally, we don’t know a specific time of release for the Cayenne Turbo S E-hybrid, because Porsche doesn’t confirm it. However, Porsche will attend at the motor show’s from New York, LA, and Frankfurt from this year so that we will expect some confirmations there. Maybe it will happen before the end of this year.
